Appliqued Sorority Letters Jacket Tutorial

I made this jacket as a gift for my sister this past christmas. It was super simple to make and cost a fraction of what most companies and websites charge.

Supplies:

 -Jacket

-Fabric

-Heat-n-Bond Lite

-Printed Greek Letters (mirrored)

-iron

-Sewing Machine

-Coordinated Thread

-Scissors

I purchased the turquoise full-zipper plush jacket from walmart for $13.95. The leopard/turquoise fabric was on sale at Hancock Fabrics for 70% off making it $3.38/yard.

First, I printed off the Alpha Sigma Alpha letters using Microsoft Word.

Second, I ironed the heat-n-bond lite onto the fabric, shiny side down.

Next, place the mirrored greek letters on the side of the fabric with the heat-n-bond. Trace the letters with a pencil.

Carefully, cut out your letters, including the middle pieces of the letters.

Pin your nicely cut letters onto the jacket. After they are pinned, lay a clean cloth and iron (without steam) the letters into place.

Slowly, sew your letters with a straight stitch. Backstitch at the beginning and end of each letter to reinforce your stitch. IF you would like a more professional finish, go back over your letters with a zig-zag stitch.

And your done! EASY PEASY!
